Marketing your subscription box really is a multi-strategy approach, so let's dive into your suggested strategy!

If one of these strategies makes you want to run for the hills, stay with me. The strategies are listed in order of which one to focus on first.

I promise you'll find some useful nuggets to help move your business forward!

Love it or hate it, email marketing is where it's at. With an ROI of 4200%, yes you read that correctly, you get the most bang for your buck!

I'm a big believer in doing things messy and cleaning it up as you go. Will your email marketing content and strategy be perfect? Heck no! But you gotta start somewhere.

Let's dive into some email marketing best practices tips!

  1. Use a professional email service provider that is made for businesses. This means you are not using your personal Gmail. And if you don't know, I highly suggest not using Mailchimp, which is a whole conversation for another day. Klaviyo, Flodesk, or MailerLite are three that I'd highly recommend.

  2. Automate, automate, automate! Automation is VITAL when you're growing your subscription box. If you need help with what to automate, check out my Email Swipe Copy for Subscription Boxes. You'll get four templates you can customize for new subscriber sequences, cart abandonment, lead magnet delivery, and one-time product purchases.

  3. Quality over quantity. If you send 20 emails a week, but they are crap, it's not going to give you the results you are looking for. Your audience will open your emails more if they know you send quality emails and not spamming them with frivolous stuff.

Focus on being persistent with your email marketing efforts even if you have a bad week and don't get an email out.

    That is okay.

    I don't subscribe to the "I should email X times a week/month" ideology.

When we focus on the "shoulds" it only leads to shame, doubt, and a tub of ice cream. Mmmmk?

You got it!!

But first...

Hi, I'm Laura!

Experienced subscription box owner turned service provider helping women-owned sub box and e-commerce brands take action in their business via strategic support, personalized strategy and sometimes a kick in the butt!

Running a subscription box business is HARD. With so many moving pieces, there is a lot to manage. My favorite thing to help clients with is strategy - taking your big business dreams and showing you how to break it down into actionable steps that will move your business forward.

I'm a freebie, bootcamp, mastermind, workshop junkie, so much so that I have a Google folder devoted to just those. There's a lot of info out there about subscription boxes and e-commerce, but I noticed not a lot of talk about the implementation part of running a business.

That's why I knew Sub SupportHer had to be different!

I'm focused on really getting to know my clients and their business, so that any form of marketing implemented, represents you, your brand, and your big business goals.

Okay, as promised, here are some additional marketing strategies that I would highly recommend!

VIDEO

Video is an amazing tool to have in your marketing toolkit!

Whether you ham it up on camera or do anything to hide from the camera, you can make video marketing work for you.

First, think of making an Instagram Reel or TikTok video as a way of storytelling.

You don't have to dance, lip-sing, or even follow trends.

Focus on telling a story and sharing value.

Start small and do it messy because that messy authenticity is what people crave!

Ideas of super simple videos you can do:

  • Unboxing

  • How you use a particular product

  • Behind the scenes of packaging and shipping

  • The mission behind your brand

  • Announcing the theme of your box

Keep in mind, short videos tend to perform better because our attention spans are much shorter. So no need to create a big production!

Another great tip to keep in mind... what has been your best-performing static social media post? Turn that static post into a video! You may have to break it up into a series of one-minute videos, but you already have your IG post copy that you can read from.

ENGAGEMENT

Engagement is usually the missing piece to the puzzle which is social media. Posting quality content is only part of the social media strategy.

We all fall down the social media rabbit hole and before ya know it, you've spent 2 hours viewing everything from business tips to that set of dogs that ride unicycles.

Spending five minutes each day to focus on engaging with your audience will start to increase your brand awareness, which then leads to subscribers!

My top tips as you focus on the engagement piece of social media:

  1. Go beyond just liking a post. Leave a genuine comment. Participate in their IG story polls. Share a post that resonates with you. All of that helps build a connection.

  2. Engage with your ideal customer and complimentary brands or people. For example, if you have a subscription box for dogs, I would suggest following mobile dog groomers, dog trainers, and actual dog influencer accounts.

  3. Track your analytics. Knowing your data will help you make business decisions. Maybe you find better results when you focus your engagement strictly in the mornings or 30 minutes after you make a post is when engagement really increases. What works for one, doesn't necessarily work for everyone, and knowing your data will help you make your next marketing move.

So, how are you feeling about your strategy now?

Remember, don't try implementing all of them at once. Start with email and do it messy.

If you're saying to yourself, "Laura, I still need help!" you have a couple of options.
